Welcome to Bullet's Memorial website

I created the following Memorial website to celebrate the life of Bullet my beloved german shepherd, and to keep his memory and legacy alive for me and all my family and friends to remember. He passed away on 17 Nov 2009 whilst fighting off 3 knife wielding attackers as he protected me.

About Him

Bullet was a gift to me, by my son Simon, when he immigrated to England in October 2003.

I remember clearly the day when we went to pick him up - it seems like it was yesterday. He was the biggest pup in his litter and when he saw me for the first time he immediately tried to crawl to me. It was love at first sight - he became my baby and 'replacement for my son'

I was going to name him Taffie, but my son insisted on naming him Bullet - he said that Taffie was a poodles name.

He settled in quickly with both myself and my 6 grandchildren - my daughters Lee-Anne and Claire having moved away from the farm after they got married.

There weekend visits would lead to endless hours of pampering and frolicking with my grandchildren (Tanya, Tommy, Tiffany and little Jamie, Reinhardt and Elise)

The thing I remember most about Bullet was his protective nature. He would always follow me wherever I went. He would also be the first to notify me of strangers on the farm. He would not let any strangers into the fenced yard and ultimately defended it with his life.

It had rained the entire morning. I had noticed that Bullet was restless - he must have sensed something was wrong. When I opened the door to let him out, he stayed by my side and now thinking about it, it was odd since he would normally run out and go and sniff the grass and chase the ducks.

When I took out his favourite meal for him and placed it in his bowl in the courtyard, he suddenly pricked his ears and became agitated and started barking in the direction of the barn.

It was then that 3 men charged towards me - each carrying a large knife. I was startled and froze to the spot. Bullet did not hesitate and charged down on them. I watched him for several seconds as he attacked all 3 of them. It was only when I saw that he was covered in blood, did it dawn on me that I was in immediate danger. I ran inside the house and into the bedroom and pressed the panic alarm. The loud siren brought my farm workers running to the house and frightened off the attackers.

Bullet was still alive when I went outside again. He was lying in a pool of blood. When he saw me he tried waking up and walking to me, but he was too weak and just kept falling down. I rushed over to him and cradled his head in my arms. He looked at me with his big brown eyes for what seemed an eternity and then he closed them one final time.

According to the police, he was stabbed 12 times and had major internal injuries.

My Hero and Savior - Bullet. He is now buried in his favourite spot in the farm - near the ducks.

Rest in Peace. Till we meet again.
