The below pictures are some of the treasured memories that I have of Bullet. My only regret is that i did not take more. |

This picture was taken on the 12th of October 2003 in Benoni. My son who was leaving for the UK decided that he was going to find a replacement to give me some company on the Farm. We traveled 170km to have a look at some german shepherd puppies that this friend had. This was the first time that I saw Bullet. He was playing with his brothers and sisters under the protection of his mother. When he saw me, he immediately tried to make his way to me. |

Bullet giving his last goodbyes to his sister - my son also took her and gave her to his in laws. She was just as naughty as him. I remember the first few days that we had both of them on the farm (before she was picked up) they used to chase the ducks around and when the ducks used to get angry and peck at them, they would scamper back to me as fast as their little paws would allow them. Bullet continued to harass the ducks throughout his lifetime. |

Bullet never enjoyed taking a bath -initially it was always a struggle. This picture was during one of his first baths. I had to hold him down tightly to prevent him from running away. He normally stayed clean for a whole 15 minutes - the first chance he got to bolt outside and roll in the grass he took with a naughty bark. As he grew older and he came to understand my tones, he would obediently sit whilst I gave him a bath. He however still managed to get a roll in the grass at the first opportunity. |

This picture was taken on a neighbours farm. Bullet showed no fear as he tackled the tiger cubs. He would enjoy the occasional romp with them. Now that I think about it, Bullet never showed any fear. I remember when he killed his first snake on the farm - he proudly brought the dead snake to me and left it on my porch. |

This was the corner of the room that I would send Bullet to whenever he made too much naughty. I never ever lifted my hand to him, but I would raise my voice and change my tone so that he would know when he was crossing the line. He would sit as quite as a mouse and just stare at me rather sheepishly until I called him to me. He would then come wagging his tail and sit at my feet whilst I would watch Isidingo |

Bullet always looked forward to my grandchildren visiting. He would let the kids really spoil and pamper him. This picture was taken with Bullet and my granddaughter Elise in our dam. She would use him to take her around.

My son in law, Pieter, used to put his glasses on Bullet and they enjoyed a little bit of sun. He was very attached to Pieter and always looked forward to his visits. He especially loved to ride in Pieter's bakkie, with his head out the window and the wind in his face. |

Bullet and klein Tommie, the 2 of them together were always trouble. Such innocent faces, but complete rascals. They were definitely partners in crime. |

Bullet was always dressed up by my 2 granddaughters. They would put on hats, little scarves, even an old dress. He would sit quietly as they had tea parties with him. It was always amusing to watch him - he seemed more fascinated than anything else and he would never try to take the clothing off. |

Bullet and my daughter Claire and her son Reinhardt. Bullet was always inquisitive. He would go sniffing around the grand kids and trouble them to play with him. Due to us staying alone (apart from the farm workers) he would make the most of every family visit |

This picture was taken in February 2008. Bullet was in his prime and used to adore my granddaughter Tanya. She was very quite and reserved in nature, but when she was with Bullet, it was another story. He really helped her come out of her shell and turn into the beautiful and confident woman that she is today. |

Balls and Bullet never went together. Without any exaggeration, i think that he actually burst close to 60 balls. He would chase them down and in one fast swoop, sink his large teeth into them. He would then carry the burst ball around for hours until I got a chance to take it from him and throw it away. |

This picture was taken when we went to Durban for the Christmas holidays. This was his first visit to the seaside. He forgot his 'hate' for water and spent several hours running alongside the waves. He would bark at the foam and then jump into it and try to eat it - and when the salt taste got to him he would snarl and run out. |

Chasing the ducks on the farm was his favourite pastime. He never tired of that. He would run for hours at end. Watching him in full stride was an amazing sight. |

Bullet had amazing teeth. He would growl and bark down any strangers on the farm. Not even the farm workers were allowed into my fenced garden space. He would become very aggressive towards any intruders. However with me, he was a calm as a lamb, he never ever growled at me or did anything in anger - even when I scolded him. I could see the love in his eyes. |

Bullet was always up for a road trip. I even had a special harness for him when we used my car. He would sit quietly as long as the window was open and he could stick his head out.

Bullet never managed to catch any of the ducks. They always outsmarted him and if they were caught in a corner, they would just fly away. He really enjoyed stalking them. |

My friend drew this picture of Bullet when she heard of his passing. She was the only other person that Bullet took to (that was not family). Bullet used to sit and watch her paint sunsets on the farm for many a year. |
